 SWAP Supported Workplace Alternate Program

SWAP
SWAP targets students at risk in years nine and ten, who are deemed not 'work ready' for work placement. It is a joint initiative between the Youth Cafe (Chill at Evans) and the school.

This program aims to help students who are under achieving at school, by providing an opportunity through supported work placement of one day per week for ten weeks (one term) at the Youth Cafe. Students will be supported by a Learning Support Team which may consist of school based personnel, Youth Workers and Cafe Manager.

As part of their work experience they will:

  • Realize the importance of work place training
  • Learn to work as a team
  • Be provided with opportunities to develop strong, positive relationships and skills
  • Connect with the wider community
  • Develop employability skills

On the completion of their work placement students will receive a work report from the Cafe Manager. At the completion of their ten week placement successful students will be issued with a certificate. Once students are deemed to be 'work ready' an open experience placement may be considered for future placement.
