This course involves the study of sustainability of marine and related environments. Students develop knowledge on environmentally or economically sustainable methods of farming fish, molluscs, crustaceans and aquatic plants to ensure food and environments for future generations.
Students learn the necessary knowledge and skills to use and protect unique ecosystems, and at the same time communicate their appreciation to the community. Students will be involved in project development relating to coastal areas and the Evans Head area. Students will also be involved in water leisure activities within the area, while learning how best to take part in these activities and leave as minimal of an impact as possible.
Evans River K-12 School has a designated Marine classroom where students can maintain their own aquatic environments.
