Mathematics
Mathematic classes at Evans River offer challenging work and a supportive environment for students.
By studying Mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.
7-10 Assessment
Assessment of student work in years 7-10 is linked to the regular Maths Online homework tasks, Half-Yearly and Yearly Examinations as well as one project each year.
Regular homework, through Maths Online, is issued to students for spaced retrieval practice. This assists students to better retain the work they have been doing in class.
Competitions
We encourage students to enter Mathematics competitions and enter teams in regional challenge days with subsidised entry cost.
Year 11 and 12
All levels of Mathematics are offered in the senior school from a non-HSC course up to Extension Mathematics. In our compressed senior curriculum, Standard Mathematics 2 runs every year and Standard Mathematics 1 is only considered for students in special cases.
Mathematics Life Skills is delivered through our STEP program, for students wishing to improve their skills at a basic, real-life level, Numeracy is a perfect fit.
