The Evans River K-12 School difference

Starting at Evans River

Beginning at Evans River is an exciting time.

Kindergarten to Year 12

In the NSW Public Education system there are over 2,200 schools. Just 63 are K-12 schools with only 4 classified as community schools, and each of these are different. With a strong focus on family & community, Evans River is a unique schooling opportunity where every student is known, valued and cared for.

Indigenous Programs

Students are involved in activities and experiences which improve Aboriginal student understanding of their culture in order to produce strong, proud and resilient students who have a sense of identity and are equipped to be effective and informed members of the community.

Engaging curriculum

The schools offers the mandatory NSW curriculum, an extensive range of elective programs in Year 9-12, and multiple alternate pathways for students to ensure their schooling is tailored to their individual needs. Evans River is an enriching and exciting place of learning.

Extra-curricular life

Students are encouraged to take control of shaping their life, choosing to engage in experiences which have not previously been part of their life. Students learn to strive for high standards and success, and to know that making mistakes, sitting in discomfort, and grappling with an event or challenge, is an important part of preparation for life after school.

Campus & facilities

Evans River stands proudly on Bandjalang country. It is a spacious, well laid out, modern school on a 10ha site. There is a unique sense of community at the school which is well equipped with modern teaching and learning resources. A stunning location, the school is 300m from the ocean, with the Evans River and two national parks within walking distance.

Principal's message

On behalf of the staff and students, I would like to welcome you and your family to our school. We hope that you will join with our existing parents in the many activities the school offers that involve parents. Evans River K-12 School provides educational services for not only the students of Evans Head, but of Woodburn, Coraki, Broadwater, Boundary Creek, New Italy, Tabbimoble, Swan Bay, Bungawalbyn, Dungarubba and Bora Ridge.

As a school staff we cannot emphasise enough the value we place on the three relationships: teacher - student, teacher - parent, and parent - student. If these bonds are strong, and work with common purpose, much can be achieved for your child's education.

Again, please accept our warm welcome and our hope that you and your children will both enjoy and benefit from, your association with Evans River K-12 School.
