The Resilience Project
Aim
At Evans River K–12, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing and emotional growth of every student. The Resilience Project aims to build resilient, empathetic and emotionally literate young people by explicitly teaching skills and habits that improve mental health and strengthen connections across our school community.
What is The Resilience Project?
The Resilience Project (TRP) is a nationally recognised wellbeing program based on the principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy (GEM+EL). Backed by research in positive psychology, TRP empowers students to recognise the good in their lives, understand and connect with the feelings of others, and build strategies to manage stress and emotions in healthy ways. Thousands of schools across Australia have adopted TRP to help students develop lifelong habits that promote happiness and wellbeing.
What it looks like at Evans River (High School)
At Evans River, students in Years 7–12 participate in structured TRP lessons as part of our Wellbeing curriculum, delivered by Year Advisors and supported by the wider wellbeing team.
Each lesson focuses on practical, engaging activities that promote reflection, discussion, and real-life application of GEM+EL principles.
We also work closely with families through information sessions and home resources to extend the program’s impact beyond the classroom, helping to create a consistent culture of gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness across our entire community.
