Minjehlah Program

The Minjehlah (Bandjalang word for “Be Happy ”) Program is a mentoring/ engagement based program tasked with both tackling chronic school avoidance issues in the local community and acting as a mentoring/learning support platform for existing Evans River students.

The program seeks to utilise the decades of engagement experience and community support built up through in-community outreach/learning hub programs and apply them across the Evans River K-12 school environment.
The Minjehlah Program focuses on using alternative teaching methods to engage students who have previously struggled in mainstream classroom settings. The program focuses on using student interests and passions as a vehicle to achieve learning, social and wellbeing outcomes and foster a more positive student relationship with education and the school community in general.
The program also seeks to provide a mentoring support role for students who are in need and aims to provide them with the skills to successfully transition into their chosen post-school pathway
